Background:
Started in 2010 by old school friends Jamie, Ben, Barry, and Mike, Sorted Food has grown into one of the World's largest online food and cooking communities. The team provides video recipes and advice on cooking skills and techniques to over 2 million subscribers, all served up with a healthy dose of entertainment.
Challenge:
To capitalise on the success of their digital platform, Sorted wanted to create a range of cookware products that subscribers could purchase to use whilst following along with their online recipe videos. Aimed at cooking enthusiasts and beginners alike, the aim was to offer a professional range of products at an affordable price.
Outcome:
Working in partnership with Leading UK homewares company — Premier Housewares, Stckmn was responsible for creating a design system that could be applied to product packaging and promotional materials for the launch of the new range. These included product catalogues, product photography, event micro site, press kits and book cover.
The Special Ingredient:
In order to create engagement between the online-only business and to bridge the gap between a tangible product and a non-tangible site, a removable magnetic QR code strip was attached to each product packaging. When scanned it takes the consumer to an online portal with access to hundreds of free follow-along recipes. Designed for future use, it can be kept on the fridge door or cooker hood and scanned when in need of some cooking inspiration. An added extra to the consumer, with the goal to raise awareness of their digital platform to customers unaware of the brand's online business.
The Launch:
A press kit mailer was designed in the form of a pizza box to tie in with the food based theme and sent to various publications and media partners. It housed a recipe book with custom outer cover, sample product, leaflet, magentic QR code strip, introduction to the brand and a USB stick containing brand assets and product imagery. For the launch evening an e-invite was created that linked to a micro site for guests to RSVP and gain event information.
